This piece is part of a series inspired by my walks along the river and past the bridges near my home. There’s something about bridges – the shape of the arches, the reflections in the water, the history. Then there’s all the ways we talk about them as metaphors – burning our bridges; crossing bridges; water under the bridge. In some paintings in this series, a bridge shape is quite clear and in others, it’s a more subtle reference.
